Barnstable County Warrant Records Barnstable County Warrant Records

This page explains what we can and cannot help with, and where to send a question about an official Barnstable County warrant. Almost every request belongs with the clerk who holds the case or with the Sheriff's Civil Process Division, not with us. We cannot look up a docket, clear a default, or accept a payment for anyone. What we can do is point you to the counter that answers the question. The routing below lists each need with the real address, phone number, and service area for the offices that handle Cape Cod cases. Start with the clerk.

This Is Not a Government or Law Enforcement Office. We run a private reference site. We cannot confirm whether a warrant exists, recall or clear a warrant, post bail, arrange a surrender, or give legal advice to anyone. For any of those, you need the clerk of the court that issued the order, or the sheriff's office.

Need Official Warrant Information?

Here is where the questions people ask most often about Barnstable County belong:

  • Whether a criminal warrant exists: contact the District Court division that covers the town on the notice. A Barnstable, Yarmouth, or Sandwich case goes to Barnstable District Court, a Bourne, Falmouth, or Mashpee case goes to Falmouth District Court, and the Lower and Outer Cape towns go to Orleans District Court.
  • A bench warrant for a missed court date: contact the clerk's office of the division that set the case. A default stays with the court that issued it, not with the town police department.
  • Resolving or clearing a warrant: speak with a licensed Massachusetts attorney and the issuing court about a recall, a voluntary surrender, or posting bail.
  • An arrest warrant tied to a charge: the issuing court sets the charge and the bail, and the department that brought the case serves the order.
  • A civil capias: contact the Sheriff's Civil Process Division, which handles civil process and capias service rather than criminal warrants.
